Saints for Deliverance from Evil
Against sorcery, the evil eye and every dark influence, Orthodox Christians pray to the Hieromartyr Cyprian, a former sorcerer, and the Virgin Martyr Justina, whose prayers broke his spells. The Archangel Michael casts down the devil. The cross worn from baptism and the prayer “Let God arise” drive away the enemy. The Mother of God “Softener of Evil Hearts” is asked to turn hatred aside. These prayers are read in Greek and Russian homes alike. The Church’s teaching is plain: turn to God, and the enemy flees before the Cross, holy water and the prayers of the saints.

How Orthodox Christians pray for this
Go to Confession and Communion, wear your baptismal cross, and keep holy water in the house. Sprinkle the rooms and make the sign of the cross. In Greek practice a priest reads the Prayer of St Cyprian over those troubled by the evil eye; in Russian practice the family asks for a moleben and reads “Let God arise.” If you feel under attack, talk to your priest.

Questions
Who is the patron saint of exorcism?
Catholics usually name St Michael and St Benedict. Orthodox Christians pray to the Archangel Michael and to the Hieromartyr Cyprian and St Justina, against sorcery and the evil eye.
Is the Prayer of St Cyprian Orthodox?
In Greek usage the Prayer of St Cyprian is read by a priest. Be careful online: some texts attributed to Cyprian are apocryphal or occult. Do not confuse him with St Cyprian of Carthage.
