"Save and Protect" wall cross
Save and protect: the prayer of every Russian cross, for your wall.
“Save and protect” (Спаси и сохрани) is the prayer Russian Orthodox Christians carry engraved on the back of their baptismal cross. This wooden cross brings it to the wall of your home. The faithful ask the Cross to guard the home and the journey, to drive away evil spirits, and to deliver from illness.
Why this cross
In an Orthodox home the Cross hangs where the family prays, above a doorway or over a bed. It is the sign Christ conquered death by, and the Church calls it “the guardian of the whole world.” This 8-inch wooden cross carries a printed Crucifixion and the Slavonic words of the prayer the Church has always made through it: save and protect. Each evening the faithful say, “Rejoice, most precious and life-giving Cross of the Lord, which drivest away the demons.” It is a fitting gift for a new home, a hospital room, or a godchild’s wall.
