About the St Nicholas Gift
The real St Nicholas.
Long before Santa, there was Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra. He threw gold through a poor man’s window so his three daughters could marry, stopped an executioner’s sword to save three innocent men, and calmed a storm for frightened sailors. Orthodox Christians call him “the quick helper” and pray to him for travelers, children, the poor and the wrongly accused. Give his icon on his feast and keep the Christmas story honest.
- For whom
- every Nicholas, Nick, Nikolai, Nikolaos, Nicole and Nikoleta on their name day;
- children on 6 December;
- anyone who travels for work.
