Saints for Peace in the Family
When a home is torn by quarrels, Russian families pray before the icon “Softener of Evil Hearts,” the Mother of God pierced by seven swords, asking that hearts be softened and enemies reconciled. Sts Peter and Fevronia and the holy Royal Passion-Bearers are asked for love and faithfulness. Rublev’s Holy Trinity, three Persons at one table, is the icon of family love and unity. St Edward the Martyr, betrayed by his own family, is asked for peace in divided homes. And an icon corner where the family prays together is the oldest peacemaker of all.
