Saints for Financial Trouble
In financial trouble Orthodox Christians pray to St Spyridon, who helped the debtor and the poor farmer, and to St Nicholas, who secretly saved a ruined father and his three daughters. Russians add St Matrona and St Xenia, who are asked about money, housing and every household need, and St John of Kronstadt for help in debt and want. The Apostle Matthew, once a tax collector, is honored in the West as patron of bankers and accountants. The Church asks God for daily bread, honest work and a way out of debt.
